Every single man should know the basic fact - most all women loves flowers and don’t see why they should not be getting them throughout the year. But yet most men seem to shy away from doing so. If you want to succeed in the dating game, if you want to be able to sweep that girl off her feets, you have to know the secret of flowers...

To the women flowers mean Romance. They are the beautiful creations of nature, colorful, delicate and small works of art. A single stalk can brighten a woman day, and a bouquet would melt her where she stands.

The first thing that strikes me is that most men often view flowers as too expensive, a complete waste of money, simply unnecessary and some may even feel that it threatens their masculinity. However, in the eyes of a woman, a man who shows knowledge of flowers and feels very comfortable selecting and purchasing them for his lady is often viewed to be sexy, shows knowledge and confidence – not only by her but the rest of the ladies around her as well.

The worst kind of flower incident of the year has got to be Valentine's Day. On this day the florists mark up the prices 100% are often so crowded you have to elbow your way around. These ‘poor’ shops are under pressure from thousands of men who are clamoring for that two dozen stalks of red roses for their loved ones. And yet, for the other 364 days a year such men don't even know where the florist is. What the men should know is that there are so many beautiful flowers throughout the year that you could give and nowhere near as expensive as on Valentine's Day. Moreover, your date would be even more appreciative that you are giving her flowers not during a commercial occasion where every other girl receives the flowers as well. She will love to receive a bunch of early spring flower like tulips or daffodils. She would love to receive pink roses in June or even a single daisy in August or the occasional exotic orchid.

If you want to come up tops in the dating game then start getting your act together immediately. I am not asking that we should all know the Latin names of every plant out there but we should be getting to know the basics; like the common varieties and exotic varieties available. More importantly get into the habit of buying them spontaneously. When your date’s house always smells fresh and beautiful from different types of flowers she gets from you, I can assure you that she will probably think of you all the time. I recommend every single guy the following tips:

• Locate a good local florist and get to know them personally (would be great if you are on a first name basis with them)
• Always keep the florist number in your mobile – you never know when you may need to get something delivered
• Never send flowers every day, its cheap and tacky – moreover, if you miss a day … all hell will break loose.
• Learn the basics about flowers and their colors and get to know the filler flowers like ‘baby’s breath’ – will make it easier if you are making a purchase off the phone
• Picking your date up? Bring a single well chosen flower … it speaks volumes of romance
• Find out what kind of flowers your date likes – do surprise her with something different from time to time.
• Remember this … Red roses are NOT the only flowers on this planet try to be adventurous and go for single exotic flowers occasionally
• Never be afraid to carry flowers down a street, be confident and know that you look good; all the other ladies around will be envious of your date.

Flowers do not need to be expensive; they are only expensive on Valentine's Day. Learn to go for the simple approach with flowers. Knowing which plants last longest will help you get value for money. If possible get flowers in an arrangement that is made especially for you and in this case – size doesn’t always matter. One of my favorite arrangements is just a single stalk of a long stem red rose surrounded with lots and lots of baby’s breathe. Remember big is not necessarily best. Select arrangements that have a water ball at the bottom to keep them fresh.

Oh a point to note; you don't just need to spontaneously buy your girlfriend flowers; you can buy for your mum and her mum too. Flowers are an act of giving which display thought and good choice without being inappropriate or expensive. Show your class.
